In the brown bags from the deli
And the fast food places too
There are lots of little packets
That get thrown out when they’re new
Salt and ketchup, Chinese mustard
Crackers, napkins, forks and knives
Crunchy noodles, Packs of duck sauce
Even honey from bee hives
All these things are made in factories
By machines plugged in the wall
When you add them altogether
It’s a waste that isn’t small
Packs of sugar come from cane fields
Where young workers sweat all day
And they wind up in our brown bags
With the things we throw away
Tractor trailers make deliveries
Hauling goods without delay
Using gas they drive for miles
With the things we throw away
Mini breadsticks, cups of creamer
Packs of mayo, bags of tea
Lots of soy sauce in the garbage
Never used by you and me
We must learn to pay attention
To the waste we see each day?
We must practice being mindful
Of the things we throw away?
We must learn to pay attention
To the waste we make each day?
In a world that’s so fragile
Lets not throw it all away
In a world that is so fragile
Lets not throw it all away
In a world that is so fragile
Lets not throw it all away
